getting "shredded"?

So my friend Steph's latest post encouraged me to break out the Jillian Michaels DVD that's been collecting dust downstairs. I've been running, but I haven't done a workout like that in a while! I have the "No More Trouble Zones" one, and I've never been able to make it through the whole thing, but tonight I did. Thanks, Steph :) Oh, and to answer your question, I think Jillian came up with the term "shredded"... (Okay, so it's morning and I'm finishing this post, and my butt is so sore! haha)

I'd like to add a few things to my list of stuff I'd like to do after graduating:
  • crochet! I'd like to get good at it and actually start to finish projects I've started ;)
  • go rock climbing - with the latest Living Social deal I purchased, along with Eric & Shelly
  • have a shopping day - like birch run, outlets, or somewhere fun
  • get back to my wedding weight - I'm already working toward it and have made some progress!

My faculty liaison from Western came out to my internship yesterday for my final evaluation, and it was a great note to end on. And it means I'm all set to graduate once I complete my required hours (34 more to go!! - my last day is scheduled for June 30). My supervisor really gave me a good eval; she has done so much to help me grow over the past year. I'm so thankful for her!

I came in as one of the younger students, with no clinical experience, and I was basically terrified to do some real "social work." My first semester in placement was tough. I was tentative in working with clients and frustrated with not having all the answers. Medical social work is hard! There's just SO much to learn. This semester, things finally just clicked for me, and I've gained a ton of confidence. We had a set of students from GVSU graduate a couple of months ago, so I've had a chance to step up and train the new students that have come in to take the graduates' place. I was surprised that a couple of the other "veteran" students didn't step up more, but that's given me the chance to really blossom. And six months ago I remember saying that I would never do medical social work again, and now I think I really want to!

When I'm done I'm definitely going to miss working directly with patients. I'm starting to feel the itch to get into a more clinical setting, but we'll see where I go from here. I'm just excited about all the possibilities in front of me :)

Have a great weekend!
